- Preparation
- Materials: EPS mouldings, special bonding mortar, anti-crack mortar, alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh, expansion anchors
- Tools: Tape measure, ink marker, trowel, straightedge, cutting machine, brush, bucket
- Base wall requirement: Clean, flat, free of oil, dust and hollow areas
- Setting Out & Positioning
- Mark horizontal and vertical lines on the wall according to drawings.
- Pre-assemble curved or special-shaped mouldings to confirm dimensions before installation.
- Bonding EPS Mouldings
- Mix bonding mortar to a creamy, non-sagging consistency.
- Apply mortar evenly on the back of EPS mouldings (thickness: 5–8 mm).
- Press mouldings firmly against the wall along marked lines, ensuring mortar squeezes out around edges.
- Adjust level and verticality; remove excess mortar immediately.
- Bonding area must be at least 70%.
- Mechanical Fixing (Important)
- Install expansion anchors for mouldings longer than 50 cm or on high-rise buildings.
- Anchor spacing: 40–50 cm; embed depth into wall ≥ 3 cm.
- Increase anchor density for large cornices and top mouldings.
- Joint Treatment
- Leave a 2–3 mm expansion joint between mouldings.
- Fill gaps with mortar and smooth the surface.
- Apply reinforced fiberglass mesh at joints to prevent cracking.
- Anti-Crack Rendering
- Apply a thin layer of anti-crack mortar over the mouldings.
- Embed alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh fully into the mortar.
- Apply a second finishing coat to create a smooth surface.
- Add extra mesh at internal/external corners and joints.
- Curing & Finishing
- Protect from rain, direct sunlight and impact within 24 hours.
- After full drying, putty, primer and exterior paint can be applied.
- Inspect for hollow areas, looseness and cracks upon completion.
